In 2003, an entire bay of Northern entrance of Bosphorus was polluted due to a spill of
437 tons of oil from a ship of 27.000 tonnes of dry cargo vessel, M/V Svyatoy Pantaleymon.

 
MEKE cleaned up the area with a 6 months long operation. 150 tonnes of oil
and 8.000 barrels containing oil cotaminated waste collected during the clean up operations.
2 oil spill response vessels, 700 meters oil boom were used in the operations conducted by
80 personnel.
